🌹 Happy 81, Daw Suu 🌹

I’ve found more warmth, more wholehearted love, more tenderness, more courage, and more caring concern among my people, as we hope together, we suffer together and struggle together, than anywhere else in the world Aung San Suu Kyi Letter from Burma (1997)

မြန်မာစာ မြန်မာစကား

Here is the reason why I feel shy (timid = lacking confidence) to speak Myanmar!

“Di ceq-tha thoun ku pe pa (give me 3 pieces of this)” I requested the shop assistant at 6 and a half mile market place. Guess what, she gave me packaged meat (boneless chicken breast) weights 3 kg.

“Ngarotesse chout be-hma le (where are dried chillies)” I asked another shop assistant I met in aisle 11. “Sorry we don’t have dried garlic in stock!!” was the response I got from her.

Note for Burmese friends: shy Vs ashamed - not the same.

Shy means timid and reserved.

Ashamed means to feel a sense of shame about oneself or something.

I don’t feel ashamed of speaking Burmese but just shy. Cheers.
